Citizens of Craighead County have been receiving mail from "Record Transfer Services" requesting you pay $83.00 for a current Grant Deed and Property Assessment Profile. The letter looks like a bill and explains why you need such paperwork.

This information is not needed. Those documents are mailed to you free after a sale or transfer of such property. You may also request a copy from your local county clerk's office for a much smaller fee. The letter does state that " this is not a bill, that this is a solicitation; you are under no obligation to pay the amount stated, unless you accept this officer."

The Craighead County Sheriff's Office wants you to know that this letter is not entirely illegal but you may obtain these same records locally for free or a much smaller price.
